November, 13.  EMILY Silver won two individual events as the fifth-ranked California women&#39;s swimming team (5-0) routed visiting Pacific, 155-99, in the Golden Bears&#39; first home dual meet of the season on Friday afternoon at Spieker Aquatics Complex. Cal won 11 out of 14 events against the Tigers.<\/p>\n<p>Silver, a sophomore, won the 200-yard freestyle in an NCAA B standard qualifying time of 1:49.84 and later won the 100 free in a provisional qualifying time of 50.60. Junior teammate Erin Reilly swam a provisional qualifying time of 1:49.99 as the runner-up to Silver in the 200 free. Senior Helen Silver (55.96, NCAA B qualifying time) and junior teammate Lauren Andrews (56.06, NCAA B) finished 1-2 in the 100 backstroke.<\/p>\n<p>Other Cal winners included freshman Jessica Hardy in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.11, NCAA B), freshman Lauren Rogers in the 200 backstroke (2:01.34, NCAA B), sophomore Rachel Ridgeway in the 200 butterfly (2:01.92), junior Sherry Tsai in the 50 free (23.89), sophomore Genevieve Patterson<br \/>\nin the 200 breaststroke (2:19.80), sophomore Leann Toomey in the 100 fly (56.04), the Cal B team of Tsai, Patterson, Ridgeway and Andrews in the 400-medley relay (3:46.00) and the Cal A quartet of Emily Silver, Andrews, Reilly and Hardy in the 200-free relay (1:34.43).<\/p>\n<p>In the 200 individual medley, winner Ja-Neil Bragg of Pacific (2:02.35) and Cal&#39;s Hardy (2:02.42)both swam provisional qualifying times.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Jessica Hardy did a nice job today,&quot; Cal assistant coach Whitney Hite said. &quot;She continues to be as good as or better than advertised. Overall we&#39;re getting better, though we have a ways to go. It&#39;s nice to see improvement. It&#39;s good to have Sherry Tsai back from the East Asian Games. She was gone for a week and a half and just got back this week. She did a nice job leading off the 400 medley relay and had a nice 50 free as well.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Besides Bragg, only Laura McDonald won events for Pacific.
