The women and men will compete in separate pools and switch venues each day. Unlike the 2012 edition of the Masters world championships, most days will end around 6 p.m. local time. In 2012 in Italy, some races were being swum as late as 11 p.m., even with two long course pools in use.<\/p>\n

Athletes from 93 countries have converged on Montreal in what has been a biennial event. That will be briefly interrupted, as FINA will hold a Masters world championships next year in Kazan, the site of the “elite” world championships. FINA has chosen to host both world championships in the same city in the same year, so Masters worlds will now be held in odd-numbered years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
