AUSTIN, Texas, October 20. WHEN the University of Florida travels to Texas this weekend, the Gators will be without the services of Ryan Lochte, a 2004 Olympian and five-time NCAA champion. While Florida squares off with the University of Texas and California in Friday and Saturday action, Lochte will remain in Gainesville.<\/p>\n

As the Gators earned an opening-season victory over Virginia last week, Lochte suffered a mild jam to his shoulder. The shoulder woe kept Lochte out of a dual meet with South Carolina. According to Florida coach Gregg Troy, Lochte could compete this weekend. Call Lochte\u2019s absence a precautionary measure. The standout won gold (800 free relay) and silver (200 individual medley) at the Athens Olympics and was a triple-event medalist at last summer\u2019s World Championships in Montreal.<\/p>\n

Although Lochte will miss this weekend\u2019s meet, there will be plenty of firepower in the pool. Texas will be led by the talent of Garrett Weber-Gale and California boasts the sprinting skills of Michael Cavic.
