CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia, October 13. AS the collegiate season kicks into high gear this weekend, a primetime clash will take place at the University of Virginia\u2019s Aquatic and Fitness Center. The Cavalier men and women, of the Atlantic Coast Conference, will host the University of Florida, representing the Southeastern Conference. The meet is scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m.<\/p>\n
On the men\u2019s side, Virginia is the seven-time defending champion in the ACC and features the likes of Pat Mellors, the reigning ACC Freshman of the Year, and Fran Crippen, a national-champion distance freestyler. As for Florida, it is led by Ryan Lochte, one of the premier swimmers in the world. Last year, the Gators were second at the SEC Championships and fifth at the NCAA Champs.<\/p>\n
On the women\u2019s side, Virginia is coming off a season in which it finished second in the ACC. The Cavaliers rely on backstroker Brielle White and distance standout Rachael Burke. Florida, meanwhile, was third at last year\u2019s SEC Champs and placed fourth at the NCAA Championships.
