IN what can only be viewed as a major victory for the aquatic sports world, FINA just announced that no positive drug tests emerged from the 11th World Championships, held in July in Montreal. Yes, that means the competition was clean in swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, open-water swimming and water polo.<\/p>\n
There were 313 conventional urine tests conducted by FINA, the world governing body for aquatic sports. Additionally, 61 tests were performed for the detection of EPO, a performance-enhancing drug that boosts the body\u2019s red blood cell count. The tests covered 237 athletes from 42 nations.
