Wisconsin State Record Holder Lillie Hosack Stays Local, Verbally Commits to Badgers
The University of Wisconsin has kept backstroker Lillie Hosack in state. The rising senior at Cedarburg High School has given her verbal commitment to the Badgers. She trains with Ozaukee Aquatics.
Hosack was a multiple time state champion at the 2016 Wisconsin Division 1 High School state championship meet this fall. She led the Cedarburg team to a 200 medley relay state title before setting the 200 IM state record. She was then runner up in the 100 fly and on Cedarburg’s second place 400 freestyle relay.
Hosack told Swimming World,
“I chose Wisconsin because I immediately felt comfortable with the coaches and the team. Wisconsin has such a great academic and athletic reputation and I’m so excited to represent my home state! I can’t wait to be a part of the badger family!”
Hosack is primarily a backstroker but she’s also a strong 200 IMer, consequently also putting up strong times in the 100s of stroke. Her best times are:
- 50 Back 25.15
- 100 Back 54.56
- 200 Back 1:58.44
- 200 IM 1:59.47
- 100 Fly 54.60
- 100 Breast 1:04.17
- 100 Free 50.27
At the 2017 Big Ten Championships Hosack would have been an A finalist in the 200 IM and a 100 backstroke C finalist.
