U.S. International Team Trials: 50 Freestyles Stacked for Final Day (Heat Sheets)

The 2022 U.S. International Team Trials continues on Saturday with the final prelims session of the meet from the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

The last morning of the meet will consider of the 200 IM, the 50 freestyle, the women’s 1500 freestyle and the men’s 800 freestyle.

The women’s 200 IM will see Olympian Alex Walsh as the top seed. She will be in Lane 4 for the fifth an final heat of the event, flanked by Hali Flickinger and Leah Hayes, who are having strong meets.

Walsh’s Virginia teammate and fellow Olympian Kate Douglass is in heat four, along with Charlotte Hook and former NCAA champion Beata Nelson. Meanwhile, Olympian Melanie Margalis is looming in the third heat.

Day 5 Prelims Heat Sheets

In the men’s 200 IM at the International Team Trials, Olympian Chase Kalisz will have the top seed and be in the final heat with Grant House, Trenton Julian and Jay Litherland. Carson Foster is in the fourth heat, while looming in the third heat will be Kieran Smith and Shaine Casas.

In the women’s 50 freestyle, there are six loaded heats. Claire Curzan has made the team in multiple events already and has the top seed in the event. Joining her in the sixth heat are Mallory Comerford, Kate Douglass, Madison Kennedy and Olivia Smoliga. The fifth heat will see Abbey Weitzeil, Natalie Hinds and Erika Brown, while Torri Huske and Gretchen Walsh are in the fourth heat.

The men’s 50 freestyle is just as stacked. Olympic gold medalist Caeleb Dressel is the top seed and will have teammate Adam Chaney next to him in the last heat, as well as Olympian Bowe Becker and Texas star Danny Krueger. Olympians Michael Andrew and Brooks Curry are in the fifth heat, along with David Curtiss, while Ryan Held, Drew Kibler and Justin Ress are in the fourth heat.

It is the 50 free and anything can happen at the International Team Trials.

There are just two early heats of the 1500 freestyle with Maddie Waggoner int he middle for the second heat and Claire Weinstein.

There will be three heats of the men’s 800 free with Will Roberts the top seed of the morning heats.
