TYR Sport is proud to announce the re-signing of 2x Olympic medalist, 5x World Championship medalist and American record holder Cody Miller to its roster of sponsored athletes.

After a breakout year in 2016, Cody Miller, who swam for Indiana University, punched his ticket to the Olympic Games. Once in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Cody earned an individual bronze medal for his swim in the men’s 100m breaststroke, as well as a gold for his participation in the 4x100m medley relay.

Despite his standing as one of the world’s best breaststroke swimmers, Cody was then sidelined with injuries in both of his knees and forced to step away from competition. He has since worked tirelessly to heal and is now setting his sights on the future. Most recently, Miller scored third place in the men’s 100m breaststroke at the 2019 TYR Pro Swim Series in De Moines, IA.

“Cody’s talent as a breaststroke specialist is undeniable,” began TYR Sport Chief Executive Officer Matt DiLorenzo. “Over the past few years he has become one of the sport’s most visible athletes, both in and out of the water. As his sponsor, we are proud to support him on his journey toward 2020.”

Looking ahead, Cody is set to once again make waves on the world’s stage. Working in conjunction with the TYR design team, Cody played a major role in the production of TYR Sport’s most anticipated technical suit: The TYR VenzoTM.

Sharing in the sentiment, Cody began, “I’m super excited to be re-signing with TYR. After having worked with the brand for over four years I can honestly say it feels like being a part of a family. Luckily, it just so happens that this awesome family makes the fastest tech suits and most comfortable goggles on the market. I feel incredibly honored and lucky to continue my partnership with them!”

“Miller became the first athlete in the history of Indiana University Swimming to punch a ticket to the Olympic Games”

Um. Didn’t Mark Spitz swim for IU???

Having been to the International Swimming Hall of Fame and seen the Mark Spitz exhibit, I have to agree that NOT acknowledging his Hoosier heritage is a significant oversight.

But, it’s also an opportunity; perhaps Swimming World should do a feature on ALL the great swimmers from IU (I’d read that!).
