Trenton Julian Case in SafeSport Closed, Temporary Measures Lifted

Weeks after qualifying for the U.S. team bound for the World ChampionshipsTrenton Julian’s name appeared in the U.S. Center for SafeSport’s Centralized Disciplinary Database with a note of “Allegations of Misconduct.” Several restrictions were listed next to Julian’s name, including coaching and training restrictions as well as electronic device and communication restrictions.

The sanctions were listed as temporary and did not impact his standing for the World Championships. No additional details about Julian’s case were made public.

Now, almost nine months after his name appeared in the database, the investigation into Julian has been completed with all temporary measures taken against Julian lifted. The release said:

The Mission Viejo Nadadores have received notice from the Center for Safe Sport which has completed its inquiry into the allegations made against Mission Viejo swimmer Trenton Julian.

His case has been administratively closed and all temporary measures regarding this matter have been lifted.

We wish him the best of luck in his upcoming competitions and his quest for the Paris Olympics.

Julian’s name no longer appears listed in the SafeSport database.

The 24-year-old former Cal swimmer was a semifinalist in the 200 butterfly at the long course World Championships in 2022, and he helped the U.S. men win gold in the 800 freestyle relay. Later in the year, he won four relay medals at the Short Course World Championships, including a world-record-setting performance in the 800 free relay and a dead-heat gold 400 medley relay gold.
