Withers is the three time defending Minnesota AA High School state champion in the 100 fly. Last year he touched in 48.25, just shy of the 1995 state record of 48.20. He will have a shot at the mark this year. His best times include:

  • 50 Fly 22.66
  • 100 Fly 48.25
  • 200 Fly 1:50.11
  • 50 Free 21.05
  • 100 Free 46.50
  • 200 Free 1:40.57

Withers will join a butterfly group that will still includes Mathias OhChathan Dobbs, and Chad Idensohn next fall.

He wrote about his decision to join the Wildcats,

“The coaches and athletes made me feel right at home the moment I stepped on campus. I knew that this was not only the place I want to study and swim at over the next four years, but this was where I wanted to live and the people I wanted to be around. Go Wildcats! #BearDown”

I like saying I swam next to that Zielinski guy that holds it now for over 20 years. I hope it stays.
