Texas Christian Adds Verbal Commitment from In-State Freestyler Charlie Brennig

NEW COMMIT: Texas Christian University has received a verbal commitment for the fall of 2020 from in-state Winter Juniors qualifier Charlie Brennig of Houston.

Brennig swims year-round with Swim Houston Aquatics Center and most recently placed seventh in the 1500m free and eighth in the 800m free at NCSAs this past summer. At NCSAs last March, he raced four events after earning 100% best times at Gulf Swimming Southern Seniors in November. A current senior at The Kinkaid School, Brennig also earned gold in the mile at the 2019 Gulf LCM Summer Championships.

He told Swimming World:

“Excited to announce my commitment to swim at TCU in the fall of 2020. Thankful for my family, coaches, and friends for helping me get to where I am now and especially thankful for the TCU family making me feel so welcome. I chose TCU because of the great team environment and stellar academic record. GO FROGS”

His best times include:

200 free – 1:43.10
500 free – 4:36.39
1000 free – 9:28.71
1650 free – 16:05.13

Brennig will add valuable distance depth to the Horned Frogs’ lineup when he arrives on campus at the start of the 2020-21 season and will look to capitalize on his recent long course success heading into the short course season. He has made major improvements over the past two seasons, dropping 17 seconds in the 500 free, 33 seconds in the 1000 free, and a minute in the mile.

I grew up in ft worth following all tcu sports. Charlie is my brothers grandson. I’m very excited he is coming to frog country & I will be able to go watch him compete in a sport I know very little about. I live in Arlington.
