NEW COMMIT: The University of Tennessee has received a verbal commitment for the 2023-24 season and beyond from Olympic Trials qualifier Sophie Brison of Alpharetta, Georgia.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m so excited to announce my commitment to swim and study at the University of Tennessee. I’d like to thank my parents, coaches, family, and friends, for getting me to this point. Go Vols!!! ?”

Brison, who trains with Dynamo Swim Club, won the 200m back at Wave I of Olympic Trials to qualify for Wave II. The following week, she she finished 38th overall in Omaha.

She more recently earned bronze in the 200m back at Huntsville Futures where she also took fourth in the 100m back. Brison, who was selected to the National Select Camp in 2019, also placed 14th in the 200m back at the Mizuno Atlanta Classic in May.

Her best times include:

  • 100 back – 54.47
  • 200 back – 1:55.67
  • 200 IM – 2:00.44
  • 400 IM – 4:18.65

Currently a junior at Cambridge High School, Brison is a multi-time National High School All-American and is a four-time Georgia 6A State Championship gold medalist.

The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American was named the Georgia 6A Female Swimmer of the Year in 2020 and has twice been named to the All-State First Team.

Brison is a great addition to the Vols’ roster when she arrives in Knoxville as a member of the Class of 2027. Even with just under two years still to go, she would’ve scored in the B-final of the 200 back at the 2021 SEC Championships where Tennessee finished fifth.
