First-year Texas Christian University head swim coach Sam Busch was placed on indefinite administrative leave on Thursday. A source close to the program first made Swimming World aware of the situation, and a second source corroborated the report.

Busch was in his first season with the TCU swim programs. He was hired in August after previously serving as an assistant under older brother Augie Busch at the University of Virginia and also coaching at West Virginia and Arizona. At Arizona, he coached with his father, Frank Busch.

Busch replaced longtime head coach Richard Sybesmawho retired after 38 years at TCU. The exact reasons for Busch’s suspension were not confirmed, but a source indicated there were multiple factors at play. Busch’s future with the program is also unclear.

Assistant coach Keith Dawley will lead the program through the Big-12 championships, scheduled for Feb. 21-24 in Austin, Texas. Dawley was also new to the Horned Frogs this year after previously serving as associate head coach at Miami-Ohio.
