 2017 Athletes of the Year

Each January, Swimming World celebrates the accomplishments of the non-swimming aquatic sports by naming the Athletes of the Year. The sports of diving, water polo, synchronized swimming, and paralympic swimming each accomplished great feats in 2017. While most of the athletes were awarded their accolades for their strong performances at the 2017 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, some, like Paralympic swimmers Sophie Pascoe and Vincenzo Boni, earned their honors by downing multiple world records over the course of the year.

Diving: Shi Tingmao & Ilya Zakharov
Water Polo: Maggie Steffens & Márton Vámos
Synchro: Svetlana Kolesnichenko
Disabled: Sophie Pascoe & Vincenzo Boni
