Southeast Asian Age Group Swimming Championships Day 2
BISP swimmers claim 2nd Championship Record, 3 Golds and 1 Bronze on second day of competition at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Age Group Swimming Championships, being held in Danang, Vietnam from 4-6 December.

Racing for Malaysia, BISP JSA Swim Academy swimmer Wong Fu Kang won the 100m Breaststroke in a new record time of 64.12, with teammate and Singaporean Chantal Liew winning the Women’s 200m Backstroke in a time of 2mins 23.67.

Rounding out the Gold medal performances was BISP’s Nicholle Toh, who teamed up with her fellow Singaporeans in the 4x100m Medley to win Gold, adding to her Bronze medal winning performance in the 50m Butterfly earlier in the morning.

Squad members Raine Gavino (Philippines) swam the 100m Brst in a 1min 16.24, dropping to 1min 15 in the relay; Jeremy Lim swam a 26.40 50m Fly in the individual, then posting a 56.00 100 Fly in the relay for Team Philippines; while compatriot Courtney Gray raced to a 2min 29.57 in the 200m Back, rounding out this morning’s races.

BISP JSA Swim Academy Head Coach Simon Jones said, “Tomorrow is the final day of racing, and again a packed line up of events for our swimmers. All the best team, keep getting stronger!”

After the third and final day of racing at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Age Group Swimming Championships, held in Danang, Vietnam from 4-6 December, BISP swimmers set 2 Southeast Asian (SEA) Age Group Championship Records and won 7 Golds, 5 silvers and 1 bronze medal.

The final day of the SEA Age Championships saw  BISP JSA Swim Academy swimmers Chantal Liew, Nicholle Toh and Wong Fu Kang add 2 more Golds and 2 Silvers to the team’s medal haul.

Chantal Liew (Singapore) took the individual Gold in the Girls 50m Back in a time of 30.69, with Nicholle Toh racing to Gold also for Team Singapore in the Mixed 4x200m Free relay. Nicholle also won Silver in the Girls 200m Fly in a time of 2min 22.

Wong Fu Kang also won Silver, swimming a very tight race, missing the Gold by 0.02 of a second, and posting a 2min 22.15 in the Boys 200m Brst for Malaysia.

Also up was Eric Tan, swimming for Malaysia in the 200m Fly (2min 12); Jeremy Lim (Philippines) 2min 14 in the same race; Courtney Gray (Philippines) with a likely PB of 32.30 in the Girls 50m Back, and Raine Gavino (Philippines) swimming the Girls 200m Brst in a 2min 43.00.

BISP JSA Swim Academy Head Coach Simon Jones said, “Well done swimmers and I hope you all enjoyed the experience of representing your countries once more.

“Now it’s time to raise our game further in the coming weeks with the Patana Feeding Frenzy in Bangkok followed by the Singapore Short Course Championships.”
