Southeast Asian Age Group Swimming Championships Day 1

BISP swimmers notch up 1 new SEA Age Record, 2 Golds and 3 Silvers on Day 1 of the SEA Age Champs in Vietnam

Racing at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Age Group Swimming Championships, being held in Danang, Vietnam from 4-6 December, BISP JSA Swim Academy swimmer Wong Fu Kang, representing Malaysia, won the Boys 16-18yrs 50m Breaststroke in a new record time of 29.43, with Chantal Liew (Singapore) racking up two Silvers in the Girls 16-18yrs 800m Freestyle in a new Academy Record time of 9mins 13.77, and Silver in the 100m Backstroke in a time of 1min 05.20.

Nicholle Toh, representing Singapore, snatched Silver in the Girls 14-15yrs 100m Butterfly in a time of 1min 03.09, in addition to winning Gold in the 18 and under 4x200m Freestyle relay splitting 2min 08.

Also in action saw Jeremy Lim (Philippines) place 4th in the Boys 16-18yrs 100m Butterfly in a 57.24, Eric Tan (Malaysia) racing a very busy first day with a 1min 01.24 100m back, 58.87 Butterfly and just missing a medal in the 200m Individual Medley with a 2min 12.07.

Courtney Gray (Philippines) dropped a second from her Hong Kong 100m backstroke time, posting a 1min 08.96, with Raine Gavino (Philippines) posting a solid 35.32 50m Breaststroke and 2min 36.22, having only just gotten back into the water since July. Fu Kang also raced the 200m Individual Medley posting a 2min 14.06.
