After an incredibly successful week at the Swedish Summer Championships Sarah Sjostrom has decided to scratch the 200-meter free from her events at the upcoming World Championships in Kazan, Russia.

The news comes after a whopping six first-place finishes and two season bests at the Swedish Summer Championshpis.

Coach Carl Jenner stated that he is incredibly happy with how Sjostrom has performed at the Summer Championships and that she is right where she needs to be in her preparation for the World Championships.

Sjostrom and Jenner decided to remove the event so as to allow her to concentrate on her other individual events and relays. Currently Sjostrom is slated to perform in the 50- and 100-meter free and fly events.

According to Sjostrom she was not excited to swim the 200-meter free and removing the event gives her a chance to focus on her other events.

A battle with Missy Franklin, Katie Ledecky and Femke Heemskerk will still be exciting in the 200 free, but having Sjostrom in the field would have been awesome.
