Ranomi Kromowidjojo Lights Up 50 Fly at Indian Ocean Meet

Ranomi Kromowidjojo blasted a meet-record time in the women’s 50-meter fly at the short course Indian Ocean Meet.

Kromowidjojo won the sprint in 25.39, vaulting to sixth in the world rankings in the event.  Emma Morel took second in 27.31 with Lara Grangeon grabbing third in 28.67.

Kromowidjojo followed that up with a win in the women’s 100-meter free. She clocked a 52.57, which was a second off her third-ranked season best of 51.39 from the European Championships.

Femke Heemskerk placed second in 52.95 with Zsuzsanna Jakabos rounding out the podium with a third-place 55.20.

Heemskerk then clipped Simona Baumrtova for the women’s 200-meter back title, 2:07.57 to 2:07.87.  Coralie Codevelle earned third in 2:16.97.

Gabor Balog set a meet record with a 1:54.96 in the men’s 200-meter back.  Yannick Chatelain (2:01.98) and Pierre-Yves Desprez (2:06.68) closed out the podium.

Jan Sefl snared the men’s 50-meter fly title in 23.70.  Louis Marcelin (24.99) and Mathieu Bachmann (25.12) took second and third.

Martina Moravcikova turned in a 1:08.66 to win the women’s 100-meter breast.  Lara Grangeon took second in 1:10.02 with Barbora Zavadova placing third in 1:10.10.

Yannick Chatelain topped the men’s 100-meter breast in 1:02.56 with Olivier Ah Ching placing second in 1:04.28. Anthony Pannier earned third in 1:04.77.

Zsuzsanna Jakabos captured the women’s 200-meter IM in 2:10.69.  Simona Baumrtova placed second in 2:11.29 with Barbora Zavadova claiming third in 2:14.49.

Anthony Pannier touched out Jean-Patrick Bernet in the men’s 200-meter IM, 2:04.70 to 2:04.87.  Mathieu Marquet snagged third in 2:07.00.

Bradley Vincent won the men’s 100-meter free in 48.75.  Lorys Bourelly (49.74) and Ferry Weertman (50.16) finished second and third.

In distance action, Martina Elhenicka won the women’s 800-meter free in 8:45.39.  Vick Davy (9:19.31) and Layne Lim Ah Tock (9:34.58) took second and third. Marc-Antoine Olivier put up a 15:14.63 to top the men’s 1500-meter free.  Benoit Debast (15:21.81) and David Aubry (15:23.42) placed second and third.
