Pitt Snags Verbal Commit From Ohio HS Record Holder Dakota Elliott

Upper Arlington Swim Club’s Dakota Elliott has announced her verbal commitment to swim for The University of Pittsburgh beginning in the fall of 2018.

Elliott is a versatile talent. Some of her best times are:

200 IM 2:00.32
100 Breast 1:02.52
200 Breast 2:15.98
200 Free 1:48.90
500 Free 4:51.82
100 Fly 55.25

She holds Upper Arlington Swim Club records in the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke, 200 yard breaststroke and 200 yard IM.

Elliott has had a very successful high school career swimming and playing water polo for Upper Arlington High School. She’s a two time varsity letter winner in water polo and a three time recipient in swimming. In 2017 she was named the team’s swimming MVP after being awarded the coach’s award in 2016. Additionally she is a nine time NISCA High School All American and one of four nominees for the 2017 Central Ohio Girls Swimmer of the Year.

At the 2017 Ohio High School Division 1 State Championship Elliott was on the state record setting 200 medley relay, swimming the fly leg. That time also set an Upper Arlington High School record. Elliott also holds the school’s 200 IM record.

Elliott told Swimming World,

“I chose Pitt because of the amazing coaches, team, and academic opportunities! I was so impressed by everything it has to offer and am in love with the city! I’m beyond excited to be a part of such an incredible team! Go Panthers!!”

At the 2017 ACC Championships Elliott would have been a 200 IM C finalist. Junior Lina Rathsack (1:57.66) was Pitt’s only scorer in that event.
