This week’s Performance Of The Week goes to Caio Pumputis for his record-setting 100 IM at the 2018 Jose Finkel Trophy.

Pumputis became the first South American man to swim the short course 100 IM under 52 seconds, touching in 51.83 in prelims to take the win and break Henrique Rodrigues 2014 mark of 52.20. The 19-year-old would go on to win the final of the event just off of his new record time, touching first in 51.88 ahead of Vini Lanza. Lanza had broken the 200 IM national record earlier in the meet.

On the same day, Pumputis also won the 200 breast in 2:03.27. His swims qualified him for the 2018 Short Course World Championships, which will take place in Hangzhou, China from December 11-16.

Congratulations Caio Pumputis on earning Swimming World’s Performance of the Week!
