BBC has announced their nominees for the 2017 BBC Sports Personality of the Year and the 2017 BBC Overseas Sports Personality of the Year awards, with two of swimming’s biggest stars landing on each list of nominees.

Olympic gold medalist Adam Peaty is nominated for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year, one of 12 nominees. The 22-year-old Olympic Champion is coming off a successful summer at the 2017 World Championships where he defended his 100 breaststroke title while also breaking the world record in the 50 breaststroke twice on his way to a gold medal. He also helped the British 400 medley relay to a silver medal. This is Peaty’s fourth nomination for the award. He most recently received a MBE back in October, one of Great Britain’s highest honors.

Fellow Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky is also up for an award from the BBC. She is one of 6 nominees for the 2017 Overseas Sport Personality of the Year award. While not her most dominant summer in the pool, Ledecky nonetheless left Budapest with six medals, five of them gold, her biggest haul at a World Championships.

The winners of each award will be announced on Sunday, December 17th on BBC One.
