Olympic Trials Qualifier Max zum Tobel Verbally Commits to NC State

NEW COMMIT: Olympic Trials qualifier Maximilian “Max” zum Tobel of Boca Raton, Florida, has verbally committed to NC State as a member of the Wolfpack’s Class of 2026.

He will join Collin McKenzie, Quinitn McCartyDrew SallsStephen ConradJT EwingKyle PonslerMichael CotterLance Norris, and Ryan Weaver in Raleigh in the fall of 2022.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at NC State University! I want to thank my coaches, friends, and family for all the support. It is now a dream come true. I’m really exited to start the next chapter of my career!! Go Pack♦️? #PBG”

A talented sprinter and breaststroker, zum Tobel does his club swimming with Saint Andrew’s Aquatics and most recently placed sixth in the 100m free at Florida Gold Coast Seniors after racing the 50m free at Wave I of the U.S. Olympic Trials. He also finaled in three events at the NCSA Championships and earned bronze in the 50 free at the 18&U Spring Cup in Orlando.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 20.45
  • 100 free – 45.05
  • 200 free – 1:40.26
  • 50 breast – 27.44
  • 100 breast – 57.90

Also competing for Boca Raton Aquatics, zum Tobel placed eighth in the 100 free and 11th in the 50 free during his sophomore season at the Florida 4A State Championships.

Under head coach Braden Holloway, the Wolfpack has also signed an impressive class for this fall that includes Noè PontiNathan KempiakAlexander Noergaard, Aiden HayesDavid CurtissGarrett BooneArsenio Bustos and Sam Hoover.
