Catherine Hulsey, Elissa Dawson Win Twice As North Carolina Sweeps Navy

The No. 12 ranked North Carolina women beat Navy 175-117, while the No. 18 Tar Heel men defeated the Midshipmen 173-127. This was the first dual meet loss for Navy as the UNC women improve to 6-1 and the men to 5-2.

The UNC relay team of Caroline Baldwin, Catherine Munch, Hellen Moffitt, and Allyn Hardesty won the women’s 200 medley relay in 1:41.45, nearly four seconds ahead of Navy.

Emma Nunn (1:50.67) and Lauren Earp (1:51.45) went 1-2 in the women’s 200 free. Ben Colley (1:39.46) and Henry Campbell (1:40.00) also went 1-2 for the Tar Heels. Colley went on to win the 200 IM in 1:52.55, and Campbell later won the 500 free in 4:32.02.

North Carolina swept the top three spots in both the women’s 100 and 200 back. Sarah Hitchens led the way in the 100, touching in 55.35. Annie Harrison took first in the 200 with a time of 1:59.98.

The Tar Heel men went 1-2-3 in the 100 breast, led by Kurt Wohlrab in 55.64. Abby Fisher won the women’s 200 breast in 2:16.05.

Catherine Hulsey won the women’s 200 fly in 2:02.91, followed by teammate Madison Boswell (2:03.60). Hulsey later took the top spot in the 500 free in 4:57.02.

North Carolina went 1-2-3 in both the men’s and women’s 50 free. Moffitt won the women’s race in 23.07, and Sam Lewis won the men’s event in 20.42. Lewis also won the 100 fly in 47.98.

Baldwin won the women’s 100 free in 50.23, and Lucas Popp won in 45.28 for the men.

Elissa Dawson won both the women’s 1m dive (321.80) and 3m dive (354,15). John Nyquist won the men’s 1m diving with a 363.35, and Osmund Moyer dove to first in the men’s 3m diving event with a score of 369.55.

North Carolina concluded the meet with a win in the men’s 400 free relay. The team of Lewis, Nic Graesser, Colley, and Logan Heck won in 2:59.50.

The Tar Heels return to the pool on January 23 as they take on ACC rival Virginia.
