Ohio State Champ Carly Meeting Verbals to Florida For Fall of 2023

NEW COMMIT: The University of Florida continues to build on arguably its best-ever recruiting class, adding Ohio State champion Carly Meeting for the fall of 2023. She joins a star-studded Gator Class of 2027 that features Olympic silver medalist Bella Sims, U.S. National Teamer JoJo Ramey, and Junior National Teamer Julia Podkoscielny. Other top commits include Michaela Mattes, Grace Rainey, Lainey Kruger, Catie Choate, Melissa Cowen, and Alex Mitchell.

Regarding her commitment, Meeting said:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Florida! I’d like to thank my coaches, teammates, friends, and family for their support. I can’t wait to join such an amazing team. GO GATORS!! ???”

Meeting does her club swimming with New Albany Aquatic Club. In her most recent meet, the NCSA Spring Swimming Championships, she stormed to top-eight performances in the 50 and 100 back and 50 free. She also made an A-final appearance at the Speedo Winter Junior Championships – East meet in December with a fifth-place finish in the 100 back.

Her best times in yards include:

  • 50 free – 22.75
  • 100 free – 49.90
  • 200 free – 1:47.70
  • 50 back – 24.56
  • 100 back – 52.91
  • 200 back – 1:55.40

A junior at New Albany High School, Meeting produced a dominant performance to help the Eagles defend their Ohio state crown in February. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American grabbed individual gold in the 50 free (22.75) and 100 back (53.31) and swam the leadoff leg for New Albany’s winning 400 free relay. As a sophomore, she was runner-up in the 100 back (55.04) and fifth in the 200 free (1:50.35).

With over a year to go before she even steps foot on campus as a student-athlete, Meeting already looks set to positively contribute to a Florida women’s team looking to get back to the top of the SEC. Looking at her best times, she would have scored in the B-final of the 100 and 200 back at the 2022 SEC Championships. Additionally, with her sprint freestyle prowess, she should factor in multiple Gator relays when she arrives in Gainesville.
