Fleur Lewis Sets British 1500 Free S/C Record At BUCS Championships; Dan Wiffen Secures Speedy Treble
Fleur Lewis set a British short-course 1500 free record of 15:46.15 at the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Championships in Sheffield.
Faye Rogers posted a European S10 100m butterfly standard of 1:05.14 at the three-day short-course meet at Ponds Forge.
Lewis’ time sliced 5.59secs from the previous record held by Rebecca Cooke, the world long and short-course medallist over 800m having gone 15:51.74 in May 2005.

Dan Wiffen won the 400-800-1500 free treble in times that indicate good times ahead at the European Short-Course Championships in Bucharest.
The Loughborough University student set the ball rolling with a dominant victory in the 1500, winning in 14:20.75 ahead of brother Nathan (14:48.69).
He followed that up with the 800 title in 7:30.06, 4.04secs outside his European record of 7:25.96 set at the 2022 Irish Winter Championships where he became the first Irish swimmer to set a continental standard.
Wiffen concluded his Ponds Forge campaign with a speedy 3:39.57, within 1.17secs of his 400 national record, as Felix Auboeck (3:44.78) and Tyler Melbourne-Smith (3:45.87) replicated their 800 finish.
Katie Shanahan won an IM triple, opening her programme with a BUCS record of 59.78 in the 100IM before adding the 400 in 4:31.93 ahead of GB teammate Freya Colbert (4:35.78).
The Scot – representing the University of Stirling – then completed the treble in the 200IM in 2:07..80 with Colbert second once more in 2:09.04.
Lucy Grieve shot to the top of the 100 fly rankings with a Scottish record of 57.00.
