NEW COMMIT: In his new role at Auburn University Gary Taylor has secured his first verbal commitment, from Nick Vance of Saint Charles, Illinois. Vance is a junior at Saint Charles East High School and swims for the West Chicago Sharks.

In 2017 Vance was a Winter Juniors finalist in the 200 back and 400 IM. A USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, Vance is the Illinois state short course record holder in the 15-16 boys 200 back and 400 IM. In the 2018 short course and 2017 long course season he was the LSC’s Senior State High Point Award winner.

As a freshman Vance swam for his high school team, where he earned All-Conference honors and was third in his Sectional in the 500 free. Since then he has put his focus on club swimming.

Vance’s lifetime bests include:

  • 200 Back 1:44.95
  • 400 IM 3:51.45
  • 200 IM 1:49.48
  • 200 Fly 1:48.49

He shared,

“I’m honored to announce my verbal commitment to swim for Auburn University! I felt a strong connection with the team and the new coaching staff. Coach Gary’s philosophy, “enthused to learn, eager to work, and desire to win,” fits the dedicated, hard-working, and driven attitude that I want in a program. I know that by being a part of the “Auburn Family,” I will be able to reach my full potential in and out of the pool. I’m truly honored to be the first to commit to this new era of Auburn Swimming and attend this one of a kind university. WAR EAGLE!”

Well that didn’t take Gary long. This kid is a stud and will make a huge impact for the Tigers. If you look at Nicks time drops, his trajectory is off the charts. This is a great sign of things to come for the Auburn Tigers!!!
