NEW COMMIT: Norman, Okla. native Daniel Wilson has announced his verbal commitment to the University of Missouri and will suit up for the Tigers in the fall of 2020.

Wilson, who owns three U.S. Open standards, swims year-round with Sooner Swim Club and placed 21st in the 50m free this past summer at Junior Nationals after winning that event at Jenks Sectionals. Last winter, he earned three gold medals at the Oklahoma SCY Championships before going on to take silver in the 50 fly at Columbia Sectionals. Also competing for Norman High School North, Wilson won the 100 fly and was the 50 free runner-up at the Oklahoma State Championships as a junior.

He told Swimming World:

“I’m so pumped to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of Missouri!!! I’m so grateful for my family, friends,  and coaches that helped me through it all! Go Tigers!”

His best times include:

  • 50 fly – 21.72
  • 100 fly – 49.02
  • 50 free – 20.79
  • 100 free – 45.11

When he arrives in Columbia as a member of the Tigers’ class of 2024, Wilson will add his talents to a training group led by Danny KovacAlex Moore, and Grant Reed. It took a 19.95/43.82 to score in the 50/100 free and a 47.52 to place in the 100 fly at the 2019 SEC Championships, but Wilson has made consistent improvements each season and is coming off a stellar long course season.
