Lauren Gleason of Mission Viejo Nadadores Lends Verbal to Cal Poly

NEW COMMIT: Ladera Ranch, Calif. native Lauren Gleason has announced her verbal commitment to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and will join the Mustangs in the fall of 2020.

Primarily a sprint freestyler and breaststroker, Gleason does her club swimming with Mission Viejo Nadadores and took fifth in the 50m free as well as eighth in the 100m free this past summer at the MVN Junior Olympics. Last winter, she earned a pair of best times at Carlsbad Speedo Sectionals and raced three events at the Speedo Grand Challenge. Also competing for San Juan Hills High School, Gleason is a three-time CIF Southern DI Section Championship finalist, most recently placing 13th in the 50 free and 14th in the 100 free during her junior season.

She told Swimming World:

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and swimming career to CAL POLY SAN LUIS OBISPO! I want to thank my family, coaches, friends, and teammates for their support! Go Mustangs!!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.18
  • 100 free – 52.66
  • 200 free – 1:57.08
  • 100 breast – 1:07.39
  • 200 breast – 2:25.05

Gleason will add valuable freestyle and breaststroke depth when she arrives as a member of the class of 2024. She’ll join a training group led by Emelia Piccininni, Caroline Judson, and Stephie Backlund.
