Katinka Hosszu competed in a total of five prelims during day 1 of the 2016 Bergen Swim Festival at the Alexander Dale Oen Arena in Norway.

Day one of the meet featured all prelims, setting up a super night of action tomorrow night.  Hosszu wound up with the top seed in four of the five events.  She clocked a 25.44 in the 50-meter free, a 1:09.06 in the 100-meter breast, a 27.00 in the 50-meter fly a 1:01.15 in the 100-meter back and a 1:57.27 in the 200-meter free.

Hosszu finished second in only one of the prelims, and that was the women’s 100-meter breast led by Hilda Luthersdottir.  She posted a top time of 1:08.02, well off her eighth-ranked season best of 1:06.45 from the European Championships.

This comes just two days after she made a cameo in the women’s 400-meter IM at the Romanian Nationals.

Japan’s Kosuke Hagino, ranked third in the world in the 200-meter free with a 1:45.50 from Japanese Nationals, snatched the top seed in that event in 1:47.05.

Other top seeds:

Men’s 50 free: Michele Santucci, 22.79
Men’s 100 breast: Jan Kutil, 1:03.19
Men’s 50 fly: Jan Sefl, 23.92
