The Pac-12 Conference announced today that Stanford sophomore Katie Ledecky and Arizona State sophomore Cameron Craig won swimmer of the week honors. Utah senior Nathan Makarewicz and Cal freshman Briana Thai won diver of the week honors. The Pac-12 women’s swimming and diving championships are three weeks away while the men’s championships are four weeks away.

Women’s Swimmer of the Week

Katie Ledecky, Stanford, So.

Ledecky won four individual races, including a rare double on Saturday, en route to a pair of Pac-12 dual-meet victories in Los Angeles. In the 182-110 win over UCLA, Ledecky won the 200-yard backstroke and the 200-yard individual medley. In the 223-77 win over then-No. 13 USC, she won the 1,000-yard free by more than 30 seconds (9:15.96) — she remains the only NCAA swimmer to break 9:30 in the event this year, doing so four times. Immediately following the 1,000-yard free, she won the 200-yard free by a three-second margin (1:43.24). Later in the meet, she won the 500-yard free in 4:36.61 to claim her third victory of the afternoon.

Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Cameron Craig, Arizona State, So.

Craig won three events last week to help No. 10 Arizona State upset the reigning national champions and No. 2 Texas, 162-138, on Jan. 26. The Monroe, Mich., native took first in the 100-yard freestyle (42.97) for the team’s fastest time of the season in the event and finished second in the 200 free (1:36.19). Craig currently holds the school record in each of the two individual events (100 – 41.95, 200 -1:31.71). Craig swam the anchor leg (19.56) of the Sun Devil men’s “A” team in the 200 medley relay that placed first at 1:27.61. The sophomore was also the leadoff leg (19.65) of their final win in the 200 free relay.

Women’s Diver of the Week

Briana Thai, California, Fr.

Thai won three of four events during Cal’s sweep of USC and UCLA in Los Angeles. She won both the 1-meter (303.53) and 3-meter (289.73) at USC as Cal went on to win, 169-131, for the Bears’ first road victory in the series since 2012. She led Cal to a 1-2 finish in both the 1-meter and 3-meter at USC, winning the 1-meter (288.08) in the 183-111 win at UCLA by 3.4 points over UCLA’s Ciara Monahan. She also took fourth in the 3-meter (281.78) at UCLA.

Men’s Diver of the Week

Nathan Makarewicz, Utah, Sr.

Makarewicz collects his first Pac-12 Diver of the Week honor after helping Utah defeat BYU for the fifth time in six years by a dominating 210-89 margin on Jan. 26. In the 2018 Desert First Duel, the senior finished first in the 3-meter springboard with 315.98 points and the 1-meter springboard with 342.00 points. Makarewicz swept both events for the second weekend in a row after picking up a similar two wins against Denver the week prior.
