Caeleb Dressel - Dog Jane

Jane Dressel, Black Labrador Retriever of Caeleb Dressel, Puts On Speed Display Of Her Own (Video)

Speedy athletes apparently have speedy pets, as evidenced in a video that Olympic champion Caeleb Dressel shared to his Instagram account late in the week. Dressel, who won five gold medals at the recently concluded Olympic Games in Tokyo, posted a video of Jane, his black Labrador Retriever, swimming almost the length of a 25-meter pool in impressive fashion. The dog dives off the starting block and follows Dressel down the lane in quick fashion, with the American standout waving a toy.

Dressel was one of the stars of the Tokyo Games, where he won individual gold medals in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly, the latter event producing a world record and victory over Hugarian Kristof Milak. Dressel also helped the United States to titles in the 400 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay, with the medley squad setting a world mark.

Dressel entered the Games as one of the most-hyped athletes and delivered at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. In addition to his world record in the 100 fly, he won the 50 freestyle by a half-second and fended off Australian rival Kyle Chalmers for the gold medal in the 100 freestyle. He was the leadoff leg on the American 400 free relay and his fly leg on the medley relay was the fastest in history.

Based on her performance, Jane clearly has the ability to contend for gold at the Dog Olympics.

I reckon my girl Labrador Whisky could match Jane. Whisky was gold and hyper at everything she did – running , swimming, surfing while retrieving sticks, soccer. She was banned from soccer matches until half and full time. She wore herself out at 8 years .
Love your girl and also your swimming at Tokyo. It brought the place alive as did our girls in the pool. Not a bad effort for Australia , a country of 25 million.
Cheers, Kev

My Golden Retriever swam like a shark. Fast with excellent stamina for distance. My Yellow Lab joined me at age 2. She was an alpha female like the Golden, big, athletic, smart and beautiful. She didn’t know how to swim. She dogpaddled with her body submerged. I righted her by lifting her tail and it was as if she had an epiphany. Both lived full lives to the age of 15. I miss both of them terribly.

Our lab/golden Bali and I used to swim in the ocean @ Hillsboro Inlet in Pompano Beach Florida every day 1/2 to a mile for 10 years and 10 months and it makes me laugh watching because BALI always had his toy to swim with .No dog or human ever beat him swimming, even after 7 chemo treatments he still beat me .
Sweet,sweet memories ???

Hello from Malaysia!
My son rescued what he thought was a skinny, black mongrel last year from a construction site. After treatment for a bad cough, skinny dog blossomed and the vet told us we had a Black Labrador on our hands.
My son is a state swimmer and immediately likened his boy, PABLO, to Caeleb Dressel’s girl, JANE. There has been repeated lockdowns here and no swimming for months but doing dryland workouts with his dog next to him just llike CD does with JANE has really kept spirits up. PABLO has been a godsend.
