Indiana Picks Up First 2024 Verbal Commitment From NCSA Finalist Ian Everett

NEW COMMIT: Indiana University has received its first verbal commitment for the Class of 2028 from Junior National qualifier Ian Everett of Kansas City, Missouri, who will arrive in Bloomington in Fall 2024.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I’m beyond excited to announce my commitment to Indiana University to further my athletic and academic career. I want to thank my family, coaches, team, and everyone who has helped me get to this point. I also want to thank the coaching staff at IU for believing in me and helping me through this process. Go Hoosiers!⚪️?

A sprinter, Everett does his club swimming with Tsunami Swim Team and placed fifth in the 100m free at NCSA Championships this past summer where he also finished 10th in the 50m free. Back in March, he had six top-12 finishes at Columbia Sectionals highlighted by a fifth-place finish in the 100 back.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 21.15
  • 100 free – 45.56
  • 200 free – 1:38.79
  • 100 back – 50.36
  • 200 back – 1:49.76
  • 100 fly – 49.79
  • 200 fly – 1:55.33

Currently a junior at Liberty High School, Everett won the 100 free and claimed bronze in the 200 free at the Missouri Class 2 State Championships last season. He finished sixth in both the 100 back and 200 fly as a freshman.

The Hoosiers won the 2022 Big Ten Championships ahead of Ohio State and Michigan.
