Hunter Tapp Posts 1:57 200 Backstroke at Greensboro Sectionals; Winners from All Five Speedo Sectionals Meets

The first batch of Speedo Sectionals meets wrapped up Sunday evening at five sites across the country. The meets are taking place in Austin, Texas; Fullerton, California; Geneva, Ohio; Greensboro, North Carolina and Roseville, California. Several swimmers continued impressive weekends of performances, but the most impressive swim came from NC State’s Hunter Tapp. Tapp finished fourth in the 200 back at the U.S. Olympic Trials last month in 1:56.76, and he cruised to the win Sunday at the Greensboro Sectionals meet in 1:57.57. Tapp previously won the 100 back in Greensboro in 53.85.

In Geneva, Semuede Andreis swam a strong time of 49.46 to win the men’s 100 free. Andreis previously won the 50 and 100 fly at that meet. Katharine Berkoff, another NC State star, earned the win in the 100 free in Greensboro in 55.23 after taking top honors in the 50 free and 100 back over the previous three days.

In Austin, Keaton Jones won his fourth event of the weekend in the 200 IM (2:05.13) after previously capturing first place in the 200 free and 200 back, and Ben Dillard won the 200 IM in Fullerton (2:07.43) after winning the 100 and 200 breast earlier in the weekend. The Roseville meet saw both Kayla Han (200 IM, 2:18.91) and Ashlyn Fiorilli (800 free, 9:03.11) become double winners on the weekend.
