NEW COMMIT: The University of Florida has earned its second verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and beyond, this time from Elise Clift of Mansfield, Texas.

Her father attended Florida as well.

Clift will join Gracie Weyant in Gainesville as a member of the Gators’ Class of 2028.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Florida to continue my academic and athletic career!! I want to thank my family and coaches for helping me through this process. I also want to thank the UF coaches for allowing me this amazing opportunity. Go Gators!!!”

Clift does her club swimming with Mansfield Aquatic Club and most recently won the 400m free at College Station Futures this past summer where she also placed second in the 800m free, third in the 200m free and fourth in the 200m back.

Last short course season, she raced to sixth in both the 500 free and mile as well as 12th in the 400 IM before going on to post six top-6 finishes at College Station Sectionals.

Her best times include:

  • 1650 free – 16:13.10
  • 1000 free – 9:45.77
  • 500 free – 4:44.95
  • 200 free – 1:47.70
  • 400 IM – 4:18.49
  • 200 back – 1:58.99
  • 100 back – 56.17

Currently a junior at Mansfield High School, Clift was the 200/500 free runner-up at the Texas 6A State Championships last year. She took ninth in both those events as a freshman.

Clift is a huge get for the Gators as her 1650 free time is already a qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships. She would’ve placed eighth in the mile and scored in the B-final of the 500 free at the 2022 SEC Championships.
