Olympic bronze medalist Cody Miller talked briefly with the media on Friday night at the FINA Champions Series in Indianapolis after he won the 100 breast with a 59.26. It was just off his 59.24 from the Bloomington Pro Series a few weeks ago.

Miller talked about what it meant to win in front of a “home” crowd in Indianapolis and why the IU Natatorium is his favorite pool. Miller also said he likes the format of the FINA Champions Series and thinks it is a step in the right direction for the sport of swimming.

Miller swam a 59.26 in the 100 breast on Friday night as he sits just outside the top eight in the world rankings. He is currently tied for ninth at 59.24 with Japan’s Yasuhiro Koseki. Miller will be swimming for Team USA at the Pan American Games this summer and will not make the trip to World Championships.

Miller won ahead of Arno Kamminga (59.72), Anton Chupkov (59.90) and Kevin Cordes (1:01.27).

Miller was one of the crowd favorites along with fellow Indiana pro Lilly King. Those two drew the biggest crowd reactions when they won their respective races in Indianapolis. Miller is reaching BTS levels of fame in the sport of swimming in the state of Indiana.
