Catie DeLoof Concludes Fine BUCS Meet With 54.17 In 100 Free; Greg Butler Completes Breaststroke Clean Sweep

Catie DeLoof went 54.17 in the 100 free to rattle the rankings and conclude a fine meet at the British Universities and Colleges Championships (BUCS) in Sheffield.

The Olympic 4×100 free bronze medallist split 25.93/28.24 to go third in the fledgling rankings behind fellow Americans Abbey Weitzeil (53.65) and Erika Brown (54.15).

It followed her 24.74 sizzler in the 50 free and DeLoof concluded her meet by leading off the winning Loughborough 4x100m medley relay team (4:01.99).

Alex Cohoon won the men’s race in 49.94.

Greg Butler completed the breaststroke clean sweep with victory over 100m in 1:00.63 with Tatiana Belonogoff coming from 0.40secs adrift at the turn to win the women’s event in 1:06.53 ahead of Kara Hanlon whose time of 1:06.75 is a Scottish record.

Butler also swam the breaststroke leg as Loughborough won the men’s medley relay in 3:40.64.

Katie Shanahan – who on Saturday became the fourth-fastest British woman over 200 back – won the 200IM in 2:11.63.

Evan Jones won the men’s event in 2:02.37.

Laura Stephens added the 200 fly to her 100 gold from day one in 2:10.53 with Andreas Vazaios taking the men’s title in 1:59.96.

Lauren Cox held off the fast-finishing Kathleen Dawson to win the 100 back in 1:00.69 to 1:00.78 with Oliver Morgan winning the men’s event in 54.92.

Jessica Calderbank won the women’s 50 fly in 27.80 with Lewis Fraser taking the men’s event in 23.82.
