Butterflyer Addison Reese Verbally Commits to Kentucky’s Class of 2028

NEW COMMIT: The University of Kentucky has received a new verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and beyond from butterflyer Addison Reese of Windermere, Florida.

She will join Avery Mehok, Bailey O’ReganTaylor Grimley and Emma Finlin have also announced their commitment to the Wildcats’ Class of 2028.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am SO excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Kentucky💙🤍Thank you to my family, friends, teammates, and coaches for always supporting me and helping me get to this point! I also want to thank the coaches at the University of Kentucky for this amazing opportunity! I can’t wait! GO CATS”

Reese trains year-round with Windermere Laker Aquatic Club and placed 12th in the 100 fly and 20th in the 200 fly at Juniors East back in December. Last summer, she had four top-19 finishes at Cary Futures before going on to take 13th in the 100m fly at Junior Nationals.

Currently a junior at Windermere High School, Reese earned silver in the 100 fly and bronze in the 200 free at the 2022 Florida 4A State Championships. She earned bronze in the 100 fly as a freshman.

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 53.79
  • 200 fly – 1:59.18
  • 200 IM – 2:02.07
  • 400 IM – 4:19.62
  • 100 free – 50.95
  • 200 free – 1:48.18

Kentucky is coming off yet another successful season in 2021-22. They concluded the SEC Championships as the team runner-up with 1043 points, their second-highest finish and second-most point total ever at the SEC Championships. The Wildcats’ NCAA finish of 12th with 115.5 points matched their second-best team finish and marked the second-most points scored in school history.

The 2020-21 season was also one of the history books for the UK women’s team, culminating with the Wildcats winning their first-ever SEC title with a program-record 1,124 points under head coach Lars Jorgensen.
