Australian Grand Prix, Canberra: Flash! Leisel Jones Lowers Own 100 SCM Breast World Record

CANBERRA, Australia, April 25. DURING the same day in which Libby Trickett took away Felicity Galvez' world record in the 100 fly, Leisel Jones lowered her short course meter global standard in the 100 breast at the Australian Grand Prix held in Canberra.

Jones touched in 1:03.72, compared to her previous world-record effort of 1:03.86 set back in 2006.

Here are the comparative splits:

Jones (2008): 30.41, 1:03.72 (33.31)
Jones (2006): 30.43, 1:03.86 (33.43)

Jones demonstrated continued improvement as she not only went out faster, she brought it home faster than her world-record swim in 2006. She finished the swim in open water as Sally Foster (1:06.03) and Tarnee White (1:06.32) took second and third.
