NEW COMMIT: Junior National qualifier Morgan Carteaux of Brentwood, Tennessee, has given Auburn University its first public verbal commitment for the fall of 2023.

She will not be the only college athlete in her family: Her brother, Cole, is on Duke’s football team; her sister, Ashton, is a cheerleader at Alabama; and her mom swam at the College of Charleston.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Auburn University! I can’t wait to be part of such an amazing team and school. I am so thankful for my coaches, teammates, and my friends and family for their support through this journey. WAR EAGLE!! #WDE”

Doing her club swimming with Ensworth Aquatics, Carteaux finaled in three events at Huntsville Futures this summer after posting five top-10 finishes at the Southeastern Championships. Back in the winter, she was a multi-time finalist at the Southeastern Senior Championships where her highest finish was an 11th-place showing in the 50 fly.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.00
  • 100 free – 51.44
  • 100 breast – 1:05.63
  • 100 fly – 57.04
  • 200 IM – 2:07.26

Currently a junior at Ravenwood High School, Carteaux is already a four-time individual Tennessee State Championship finalist. She placed third in the 50 free and sixth in the 100 free as a sophomore while taking second and seventh, respectively, in those events during her rookie season.

She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors twice for her efforts in the classroom.

Even with two years of club swimming still to go before suiting up for the Tigers, Carteaux will be a great addition both individually and on relays as she would’ve been their fourth-fastest 50 freestyler last season.
