Alexi Kuska Named New Assistant at University of Wisconsin-Wilwaukee

Milwaukee Panthers

Alexi Kuska has been named assistant coach for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee swimming & diving team, head coach Kyle Clements announced today.

“We’re excited to have Alexi joining our athletic department,” Clements said. “I first want to thank our search and screening committee. They put in a lot of time and effort to make sure we found the perfect fit for our assistant coach position. We received over 50 applications, and Alexi’s application and resume really stood out. Not only did we like her swimming/coaching background, but her work with prestigious academic institutions put her above the others. Once we started phone interviews and the committee and I spoke with her directly, we knew we had someone special. Her personality and enthusiasm for her work spoke to the entire committee. We know that we got a great coach and with all of her attributes she will help move this program forward.”

Kuska comes to Milwaukee after most recently serving as an assistant coach at Dartmouth this past season.

Kuska also served as an assistant coach with the University of Chicago men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs from July 2012 through June 2013. During her time there, she was a member of the 2013 Men’s and Women’s University Athletic Association (UAA) Coaching Staff of the Year.

“I am thrilled to be involved in adding to the success of the Panther swimming & diving program,” Kuska said. “I came to a Milwaukee because the opportunity met my unique criteria: UWM is led by a head coach with whom I can partner to contribute a unique blend of enthusiasm and expertise to a program that welcomes success. Bringing new talent to any team is rewarding, so having the opportunity to coordinate the Panther recruiting effort is extremely appealing and allows me to gain valuable experience. The UWM Campus is beautiful, the athletes are passionate about our sport and Milwaukee seems like a great place to live.”

Prior to that, Kuska was working as an assistant coach at Ohio State. While at OSU, Kuska assisted with recruiting efforts, athlete mentoring and meet preparation.

Kuska, who enjoyed a successful 15-year competitive swimming career, was a four-year member of the University of Richmond women’s varsity swim team from 2008-12 and was named co-captain during her senior year. She helped lead the Spiders to three Atlantic 10 (A-10) Championship titles during her time in Virginia.

Kuska graduated from Richmond in 2012 with a degree in psychology and a minor in religious studies.
