Alabama Picks Up 2024 Verbal From Louisiana State Record Holder Marie Landreneau

NEW COMMIT: The University of Alabama has received a new verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and beyond from Marie Landreneau of Youngsville, La.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Alabama to continue my athletic and academic career. Thank you to my family for supporting me every step of the way. Thank you to Coach Cam and Coach Colleen for helping me excel on the pool and in the relationships around me. A special thank you to all my teammates and COLA family who have helped me become the person I am today. Thank you to Coach Margo and Coach James and the entire Alabama coaching staff for believing in me. Then, finally, thank you to all the St. Thomas More Catholic High School staff who have helped me accomplish my goals in the classroom. ROLL TIDE!”

Landreneau does her club swimming with City of Lafayette Aquatics and had a great showing this past summer at the NCSA Championships, earning six best times and posting five top-16 finishes.

Her best times include:

100 free – 50.55
200 free – 1:47.50
500 free – 4:50.71
200 breast – 2:17.49
200 IM – 2:03.14
400 IM – 4:23.36

Currently a junior at Saint Thomas More High School, Landreneau recently won the 100 breast and 200 free at the Louisiana D2 State Championships last month, also winning those events as a freshman and a sophomore. She’s a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, too.

She was named the 2022 Louisiana Swimming Swimmer of the Year.
