Today’s takeaways on the Arena Pro Swim Series Santa Clara are from coaches and athletes themselves. (Comments in parenthesis are the writers clarifications)

Bob Bowman (North Baltimore Aquatic Club/Arizona State):

Pretty successful for his guys/(girls)…Happy for his guy (MP)…there is just enough time now to move to another level…

Teri McKeever (California Women):

Great history (here in Santa Clara)…fun place to be…nice annual barometer for summer…great racing…different people…ie Katinka, the Brazilians (and other foreign swimmers)…

Jeremy Kipp and Jon Urbanchek (USC/Trojan Swimming)

Love coming here…great environment…big names…measuring stick for rest of summer including Pan Americans, World University Games, Kazan World Championships, USA Nationals and the Los Angeles Invitational July 9-12!…Thank you Santa Clara!

Dave Durden (California Men):

Guys are soon going different directions…last time through the bulk of training together…last time together as a TEAM!

Rick DeMont (University of Arizona):

Love this meet…coming since 1970-71…(swimmers/swims) were pretty good…pretty much on schedule…looking good towards Pan Ams, World Champs, Nationals…nice to look at the world at this meet

Rob Lias (Navy):

Always loves coming here…the weather, the timing…great meet…Int’l stars…ready to swim fast towards end of their season…fits well with the Naval Academy schedule

Tom Jager (Washington State University Women):

Best spot…beginning of summer…East coast (swimmers)…ground zero for great swimming…not great pressure to swim well but can (& do)

Michael Phelps (Olympic Swimmer):

I’m happy…A win!…not whooped in every event…200 Fly 3 sec drop from Charlotte…hard work is paying off…confidence booster…not many great swims

I would personally like to thank each one of you coaches and MP for your time and comments. Best wishes and best swims for the rest of this summer of 2015!
