2022 U.S. National Championships Day 2: Katie Ledecky, Kieran Smith, Will Licon, Rhyan White Lead Prelims (Heat Sheets)

The 2022 Phillips 66 U.S. National Championships continue from Irvine, California with Day 2. The heat sheets have been released.

The session will begin with prelims in the women’s 200 freestyle, followed by the men’s 200 freestyle, the women’s 200 breaststroke, men’s 200 breaststroke, women’s 200 backstroke and men’s 200 backstroke.

Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky is the top seed in the 200 freestyle and in heat 7, she will be flanked by NCAA champion Beata Nelson and Justina Kozan. Erin Gemmell anchors the sixth heat that includes 100 free champion Natalie Hinds.

Olympic medalist Kieran Smith anchors the men’s 200 freestyle from the final heat. He will be flanked by Trenton Julian and Jake Magahey. Yesterday’s 100 free co-champ Zach Apple and fellow Olympians Patrick Callan and Jake Mitchell are in earlier heats along with Grant House and 200 fly champion Gabriel Jett.

The top seed in the women’s 200 breaststroke is Anna Keating in heat 6 on the heat sheets. She will be flanked by USC All-American Isabelle Odgers and Matilda Smith of Australia. Ella Nelson and NCAA champion Kaitlyn Dobler are in heat five.

The men’s 200 breaststroke has 11 heats and features national champion Will Licon and Jake Foster going heat to head in the final heat. NCAA champion Max McHugh is in an earlier heat.

Olympian Rhyan White leads the field in the women’s 200 backstroke. Fellow Olympian Leah Smith will be right next to her in heat 7. Olympian Claire Curzan is in heat 6, while Cal All-American Isabelle Stadden is in heat 5.

In the men’s 200 backstroke, Jack Aikins holds the top seed, while Cal’s Destin Lasco and Colby Mefford are looming in earlier heats.
