Indiana’s Lilly King stole the show on her home turf on the third night of competition at the 2019 Big Ten Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships. The senior blasted a 55.88 100 Breaststroke – New American, U.S. Open, NCAA, Big Ten Championship and Indiana facility Records. Teammate Bailey Andison got the session started on the right foot for the Hoosiers after her come-from-behind win in the 400 IM. They remain in first place as a team by over 100 points.

Michigan also doubled up on wins with efforts from Maggie MacNeil in the 100 Butterfly and Siobhan Haughey in the 200 Freestyle. Both swims were meet records. Other new Big Ten marks came from the Wolverine 200 Freestyle Relay, as well as Minnesota’s Sarah Bacon in Three-Meter Diving.

100 Breaststroke

Indiana’s Lilly King put on a dominating performance in front of her home crowd on the third night of the 2019 Big Ten Swimming & Diving Championships. After getting off to a quick start of 26.11, she also out-split the competition on the second fifty to secure her spot atop the podium and all-time rankings.

King’s final time of 55.88 was her first swim under the 56-second mark and lowered her own American and U.S. Open Records from 2018 (56.25) and NCAA Record from 2017 (56.30). The time also broke her own Big Ten and Indiana Pool Records.

She was joined in the A final by teammates Noelle Peplowski (sixth – 1:00.04) and Laura Morley (eighth – 1:00.66). Michigan and Minnesota also had two swimmers in the heat. The Wolverines were led by Miranda Tucker (second – 58.25) and Jamie Zhen Yeung (fourth – 59.50) while the Gophers were represented by Lindsey Kozelsky (third – 58.96) and Rachel Munson (fifth – 59.71). Ohio State’s Hanna Gresser rounded out the heat in 1:00.09.
