NEW COMMIT: The University of Louisville picked up a huge international verbal commitment with Brazilian World Juniors bronze medalist Murilo Sartori sending a commit to the Cardinals.

Sartori won the bronze medal in the 200m free at the 2019 World Juniors with a time of 1:47.39 and finished eighth in the 100m freestyle in 50.30. He swam even quicker in the semifinals with a 50.01.

Sartori will be a valuable asset on relays for the Cardinals as he adds depth in the 100 and 200 freestyle. He also has a good 400 free, placing 12th at the World Juniors with a 3:52 in long course meters.

Sartori comes from Brazil, the same nation that Louisville head coach Arthur Albiero hails from as well as one of the greatest Louisville swimmers ever Joao de Lucca. Louisville currently has one Brazilian on the team with sophomore Maria Sumida.

Sartori also competed at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games for Brazil, winning a silver in the 4×100 freestyle relay with a 50.55 on the lead-off leg. He split a 49.24 and 1:47.04 on Brazil’s freestyle relays at the Junior Worlds.

Murilo Sartori will join the University of Louisville team in the fall of 2021. The Cardinals have received verbal commitments for that season from John Bossler, Lance Godard, Wylie KruseEli Shoyat, and Owen TaylorLouisville is coming off a good season where they won two relays at the ACC Swimming and Diving Championships. The NCAAs wound up cancelled but the Cardinals were seeded on the psych sheet to get 10th place and also qualified ten total swimmers to the meet.
