Vermont Catamounts Rally Up Verbal Commitments from Jackie House, Hally Laney

NEW COMMITS: The University of Vermont has recently scored a pair of verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Madison, Wisc. native Jackie House and Hally Laney of Decatur, Ga.

Both talented swimmers will join Lauren McCain, Alexis Torykian, Anna Shoudt in Burlington as members of the Catamounts’ Class of 2025.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“Committed Check! I’m unbelievably excited to announce my decision to continue my swimming and academic careers at the University of Vermont. Thank you to my friends, family and coaches for all the support! Go Cats!!”

House swims year-round with Badger Aquatic Club and placed 15th in the 500 free at the Wisconsin 13&O State Championships in March. At the Holiday Splash in December, she finished fifth in the 200 fly and eight in the 200 back.

Her best times include:

  • 100 free – 53.81
  • 200 free – 1:56.78
  • 500 free – 5:01.56

Also competing for Madison Memorial High School, House is a three-time Wisconsin DI State Championship finalist. She finished fourth in the 500 free and 14th in the in the 50 free during her junior campaign while taking 22nd in the former event as a sophomore.

HALLY LANEY

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am super excited to announce my commitment to study and swim at the University of Vermont. UVM has excellent academics, a beautiful campus and a great coaching staff. The team has made me feel so welcome. I am so excited to call Burlington home! GO CATS!!”

Laney trains year-round with Metro Atlanta Aquatic Club and most recently earned six best times at Cary Sectionals in March after placing 19th in the 200 fly at Georgia Seniors in December. Last summer, she raced to 11th in the 50m fly and 15th in the 400m IM at Georgia LCM Seniors.

Her best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:54.90
  • 500 free – 5:07.67
  • 100 fly – 57.60
  • 200 fly – 2:09.45
  • 200 IM – 2:09.08
  • 400 IM – 4:34.66

Currently a senior at Decatur High School, Laney is a four-time Georgia 4A State Championship finalist. She finished second in the 200 IM and fifth in the 100 fly as a junior while taking fourth in the 500 free and seventh in the 200 free during her sophomore season.
