The 2023 TYR Pro Swim Series stop in Fort Lauderdale concluded with the Day 4 finals from Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center at the site of the International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHOF) on Saturday.

The events of the day are the 800 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 100 butterfly, 200 IM and 50 freestyle.

Here is a look at each women’s event on Day 4:

800 Freestyle

As Katie Ledecky got to the blocks, a packed crowd at Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center went wild. The largest crowd of the meet, and the crowd with the most kids, screamed for the world record holder.

Ledecky delighted the crowd by winning in 8:14.70, finishing more than 25 meters ahead of the field.

Ledecky splits started with a 28.55 and ended with a 30.03. She was a 30.60 in her second 50 then 31-low the entire race until the final 50.

Sandpipers’ Claire Weinstein finished second in 8:33.16.

Michaela Mattes finished third in 8:39.61.

100 Backstroke

Regan Smith has had a stellar meet and kept that rolling with a stunning 57.92 in the 100 backstroke. It is the first of a double. She was out in 27-high and was two seconds ahead of the field.

Olivia Smoliga put together a dominating swim as well, just not quite where Smith was in the race. Smoliga broke a minute and finished in 59.71.

Medi Harris from Wales was third in 1:00.05, followed by Erika Pelaez (1:00.12) and Great Britain’s Lauren Cox (1:00.88).

200 Breaststroke

King swam the best time in the world this year to win the 200 breaststroke in Fort Lauderdale, finishing in 2:23.33.

Canada’s Kelsey Wog was second in 2:25.49, followed by King’s teammate Annie Lazor (2:26.96).
