NEW COMMIT: The University of Denver has officially begun their Class of 2026 recruiting after receiving a verbal pledge from Mina Ada Solaker of Istanbul, Turkey.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Denver as a part of their class of 2026. Huge thanks to everyone who have supported and helped me throughout the process especially my parents, close friends and teachers. Everything about Denver felt like the perfect fit and I can’t wait to train under the incredible staff and along side the amazing athletes. GO PIOS!!!!!”

Solaker does her club swimming with Galatasaray Spor Kulübü and is a talented butterflyer and IMer. She most recently earned gold in the 400m IM and bronze in the 200m IM at the International Turkcell Youth Junior and Open last month.

At the Turkish Club Young Stars meet in December 2020, she recorded a trio of top-5 finishes and raced to fourth in the 400m IM at the Turkish Short Course Junior Championships in 2019.

In LCM, her best times include:

  • 200m IM – 2:21.62
  • 400m IM – 4:55.20
  • 200m fly – 2:26.04

In SCY, those times convert to:

  • 200 IM – 2:04.20
  • 400 IM – 4:18.59
  • 200 fly – 2:10.12

Under head coach Alicia Hicken-Franklin, Denver swept their seventh-straight Summit League Championships last season. Solaker’s best time, converted to yards, is fast enough to win the 400 IM at the conference level.
