The Toronto Titans signing spree continues, with American sprinter Blake Pieroni and Icelandic Olympian Anton Sveinn McKee joining the roster of the newest International Swimming League franchise Friday.

Pieroni, 24, won a gold medal with the American 400 free relay at the Rio Olympics and a bronze in the 800 free relay at the 2019 World Championships. The Indiana University grad has 12 relay medals in World Championships (Long- and Short-Course), seven of them gold. He competed with the Los Angeles Current last season.

“I’m extremely excited to join the Toronto Titans, I look forward to building an amazing team chemistry and racing a lot throughout this ISL season!” Pieroni said in a team statement.

McKee, 26, is a graduate of the University of Alabama who competed in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. He specializes in breaststroke and individual medley.

“Joining the Toronto Titans is truly a dream come true,” McKee said. “Most of my favorite swimming memories come from racing for the University of Alabama, where it as all about swimming for the team. Getting the opportunity to race in a team environment again is something I’m extremely excited about, and I can’t wait for the season to start.”

“Adding Blake Pieroni and Anton McKee is a big deal for our team,” Toronto Titans general manager Rob Kent said. “Blake is a superstar and is going to move us up in the team rankings, and frankly in credibility too. We’re pumped to have him on the Titans. I’m just as excited about signing Anton. It is pretty sweet when you find the fourth fastest breaststroker in the world. The other two things both of these guys bring to the team is they both still have that ‘fire in their belly’ about swimming – and they are both really fun and positive people! They’re the type of swimmers we want on our team.”

Pieroni joins fellow American Michael Chadwick and Canadian’s Kayla Sanchez and Kylie Masse among the Toronto Titans signings in their first week.
