Tim Kalin, Grafton Parlette Verbal to Ohio State; Will Join Buckeyes in Fall 2021

NEW COMMITS: The Ohio State University has scored a pair of verbal commitments for their growing class of 2025 from Cincinnati, Ohio native Tim Kalin and Grafton Parlette of Rochester, Minn.

Both swimmers will arrive in Columbus at the start of the 2021-22 season along with Alex Quach, Josh BogniardKarl Helmuth and Luke Paxton.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I’m extremely proud to announce my commitment to THE Ohio State University to further my academic and athletic career. I chose Ohio State for their amazing academic and athletic atmospheres. Thank you to my friends, family and coaches that helped me get to where I am today. Go Bucks!”

A talented backstroker, Kalin is a U.S. Open qualifier who does his club swimming with Mercy Healthplex Sea Wolves. He most recently placed fifth in the 100 back at the MAKO Senior Circuit after earning five bets times at the MAKO Holiday Invite. Last summer, he raced to eighth in the 100m back at NCSAs.

His best times include:

  • 50 back – 23.61
  • 100 back – 49.85
  • 200 back – 1:52.75
  • 50 free – 21.14

Also competing for Seven Hills Upper High School, Kalin is a four-time Ohio State Championship finalist. He finished second in the 100 back and fifth in the 100 fly as a junior while taking sixth in the former event during his sophomore season.

GRAFTON PARLETTE

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to The Ohio State University. I chose Ohio State because of the amazing athletic and academic program, and spectacular team and coaching staff. I look forward to joining a great team with a great culture. Go Bucks!!”

Primarily a freestyler and backstroker, Parlette swims year-round with Rochester Swim Club and is a Junior National qualifier. He recently had a pair of top-8 finishes at Minnesota Seniors after earning 100% best times at Juniors West. At NCSAs last summer, he finaled in the 200m free and 200m back.

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:39.75
  • 500 free – 4:31.96
  • 1650 free – 16:00.47
  • 100 back – 51.81
  • 200 back – 1:51.15

A rising senior at Rochester Century High School, Parlette is a five-time Minnesota Class 2A State Championship finalist. He was the runner-up in the 100 free and grabbed bronze in the 200 free in his junior campaign while taking seventh in the 200 free and fifth in the 500 free as a sophomore.
